About Us
Why DadaPower?
DadaPower Initiative is a young women-led, grassroots community initiative founded in 2015 and registered in 2019 as a Community-Based Organization in Murang’a County. Our goal is to promote and enhance teenage girls’ and young women’s rights for their academic, socio-economic, and political advancement. We strongly believe that every girl and woman is entitled to a dignified life with sufficient access to development opportunities.
Word from the founder
I will forever treasure the day I received a call from the school Headteacher at Rurii Primary School, thanking the team and I for a mentorship talk with the school’s teenage girls in 2015. To this, she attributed the school having a girl lead in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) that year, for the first term ever in the school history.
Birthed from a desire to see teenage girls in rural public schools equally enroll and complete school and take up leadership positions as boys, the story of Dadapower’s work has taken a rewarding and promising trajectory.
